Cape Town is stunning from sea to sky! "Deceptively laid-back whilst working hard to “add cultural and culinary cred to the Mother City’s famous natural charms, cementing its reputation as an African city with a global outlook.” That is how Lonely Planet describes Capetonias. As you already knew, local gastronomy is being as impressive as the city’s famous Table Mountain; and the endless wine estates, hip markets and inventive restaurants are highly praised.
Cape Town features high up as number two on the Lonely Planet Top 10 Cities list. Bordeaux in France won the coveted top spot (its “gastronomic revolution” being one of the reasons), with Los Angeles, USA, in third position.
Lonely Planet predicts the art and design scene in Cape Town will be given a boost next September (2017) when the much-anticipated Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (MOCAA) is due to open, the largest of its kind.
Lonely Planet is the largest travel guide book publisher in the world by the way.

Cape Town has another scoop!
At V&A Waterfront the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa will be housed in the historic Grain Silo at the V&A Waterfront. The museum will be dedicated to modern art from the African continent and the largest one of its kind!
In about 20 minutes from the Wind-Rose on your way (on the R44) to Stellenbosch you will find ROOT44. Usually opened on Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 - 16:00.
A market with a difference: housed in sturdy, super cosy Downings marquees (which means rain is never an issue), and surrounded by gorgeous vineyards and trees, offering funky live entertainment, craft and homeware stalls perfect for leisurely browsing, and an awesome selection of edible and drinkable treats. Watch this video impression.
More calories you think? Not necessarily because ROOT44 offers a ParkRun as well. This is how they describe it:
We joined the awesome, worldwide parkrun initiative in May 2013, and it’s been a great addition to ROOT44 Market, offering families a fantastic way to get outdoors while enjoying the beautiful surroundings of the winelands. These free, weekly, 5 km timed runs happen all around the world every Saturday, though we’re pretty sure our route through Audacia’s vineyards with the gorgeous Stellenbosch and Helderberg mountain ranges around you, must be one of the globe’s most scenic! parkrun is an all-weather event and happens every Saturday at 8am sharp. It’s a family-orientated affair, catering for all ages and fitness levels, which means it’s suitable for serious athletes and those who would like to just take a leisurely stroll along the route instead. The best thing about ROOT44 parkrun, is that after getting your blood pumping and oxygenating your system, our ROOT44 food and beverage vendors will tempt you with all manner of scrumptious culinary delights and refreshments – a welcome reward after a little exertion.
Did you know there is a running event each week in the Cape? Even just outside our Guest House there is a run every Saturday starting at 09:00!
